Tehran Bourse Facing New Sell-Side Pressure

Tehran stocks opened trading week on Saturday in negative territory amid renewed selloff in most commodity stocks. 

The benchmark of Tehran Stock Exchange, TEDPIX, lost 5,513.97 points or 0.43% to end trade at 1,282,796.

The TSE-30 Index lost 0.7% while its equal-weighted index shed a little more than 0.2%, indicating that penny stocks outperformed. 

TSE-30 index tracks the performance of top 30 companies in terms of market cap. 

At the close of the session, 197 tickers posted gains while  261 others fell, accounting for 53% of the total tickers. 

About 5.61 billion shares worth 34.25 trillion rials ($131.7 million) changed hands at TSE for the day.

Trading at TSE and junior exchange Iran Fara Bourse starts on Saturday and ends Wednesday.

Azarbayjan Investment Development Company was the biggest winner as its shares went up 4.99% to 41,880 rials per share.

Rouz Darou Pharmaceuticals Company incurred the biggest loss among all TSE-listed companies and went down 4.82% to 28,820 rials per share.

Mobarakeh Steel Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by National Iranian Copper Industries Company, Mellat Bank and Iran Khodro Company.

Pardis Petrochemical Company gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index followed by Nouri Petrochemical Company, Parsian Oil and Gas Development Group Company and Ghadir Investment Company.

Iran Fara Bourse took a reverse course and ended in the positive zone on Saturday. The IFB’s main index, IFX, gained 46 points or 0.26% to close Saturday trade at 17,634.34.

About 2.3 billion shares and securities valued at 72.22 trillion rials ($277.8m) were traded at the junior exchange for the day.

Iran Fara Bourse, Iranian Reinsurance Company, Negin Software Systems Development Company and Saba Tamin Investment Company had the most negative impact on IFX.

Zagros Petrochemical Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Arya Sasol Polymer Company, Pouya Zarkan Agh Darreh Company and Minoo Industrial Group Company.
