Tehran’s share market was choppy on Tuesday as a bull-run in the early hours soon gave way to selloff that has plagued the bourse for months.
The main index of Tehran Stock Exchange, TEDPIX, closed 1,945.82 points higher to gain 0.15% ending trade at 1,334,701.
Small caps were a bit better off pushing up the TSE’s equal-weighted index by 0.4%.
Retail trade dropped 13% compared with the previous session to reach 23.97 trillion rials ($85 million), accounting for 41% of the total trade.
At the end of the session, prices of 301 tickers gained while 352 tickers were lower, accounting for 55% of the total.
A total of 5.2 billion shares valued at 25.03 trillion rials ($89.4 million) changed hands at TSE on Tuesday.
Qazvin Sugar Company was the biggest winner as its shares went up 4.99% to 4,441 rials per share. Pegah Esfahan Dairy Company incurred the biggest loss among all TSE-listed companies and went down 4.71% to 18,800 rials per share.
Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by Pardis Petrochemical Company, Tamin Petroleum and Petrochemical Investment Company and Mobin Energy Persian Gulf Company.
Mobarakeh Steel Company gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index followed by Iran Khodro Company, Mellat Bank and Bandar Abbas Oil Refining Company.
IFB Up 0.3%
Iran Fara Bourse main index, IFX, gained 47.81 points or 0.27% to close Tuesday trade at 18,065. About 1.09 billion shares and securities valued at 45.28 trillion rials ($161.7m) were traded at the junior exchange for the day.
Etemad Afarin Parsian Fund had the highest number of traded shares as 38.28 million of its shares worth 1.58 trillion rials ($5.6m) were traded.
The biggest IFB’s loser was Tadbirgaran Fars and Khuzestan Investment Company with 9.9% fall to reach the 35,050 rials per share.
Marun Petrochemical Company, Takhte Jamshid Petrochemical Industries Company, Iran Fara Bourse and Hormozgan Steel Company had the most negative impact on IFX.
Arya Sasol Polymer Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Iran Cultural Heritage and Tourism Investment Group Company, Minoo Industrial Group Company and Saba Tamin Investment Company.
