Stocks End Lower

Stocks closed on Tuesday mainly lower with the benchmark of Tehran Stock Exchange losing 0.5%.

The market cap-weighted TEDPIX shed 6,845.61 points to end trade at 1,357,093. The equal-weighted index of the Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE) dipped 0.45%. The latter index better reflects the performance of small caps.

While the majority of shares were in the red, banks and credit institutions by and large were the big gainers on Tuesday. The index that tracks listed banks surged close to 2.5%.   

About 4.55 billion shares woreth 34.63 trillion rials ($123.7 million) changed hands at TSE for the day.

Shafa Darou Investment Company was the biggest winner as its shares went up 9.91% to 17,630 rials per share.

Telecommunication Company of Iran incurred the biggest loss among all TSE-listed companies and went down 4.87% to 7,420 rials per share.

Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by Nouri Petrochemical Company, Mobarakeh Steel Company and Telecommunication Company of Iran.

Mellat Bank gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index followed by Tejarat Bank, Bank Saderat Iran and Sadr Tamin Investment Company.

IFX Down 0.2%

Iran Fara Bourse main index, IFX, lost 43.39 points or 0.22% to close Tuesday trade at 19,460.3. About 1.73 billion securities valued at 27.67 trillion rials ($98.8m) were traded at the junior exchange for the day.

Iran Cultural Heritage and Tourism Investment Group Company, Iran Fara Bourse, Arya Sasol Polymer Company and Lavan Oil Refining Company had the most negative impact on IFX.

Pasargad Insurance Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Minoo Industrial Group Company, Tabas Parvardeh Coal Company and Mehr Ayandegan Financial Development Group Company.
