Tehran’s stock market closed trading week higher on Wednesday extending gains into the third session amid improved performance of small caps.
The benchmark of Tehran Stock Exchange, TEDPIX, gained 8,848 points or 0.61% to end trade at 1,456,522.
Decline in petrochemical stocks impeded the market cap-weighted TEDPIX. This was when the majority of penny stocks and small caps were in the upbeat mode, causing the TSE’s equal-weighted index to climb 1.43%.
About 8.36 billion shares valued at 57.73 trillion rials ($213.8 million) changed hands at TSE for the day.
Khorasan Sabet Sugar Company was the biggest winner as its shares went up 6.66% to 2,385 rials per share.
Jooshkab Yazd Industries Company incurred the biggest loss among all TSE-listed companies and went down 4.41% to 113,850 rials per share.
Nouri Petrochemical Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by Parsian Oil and Gas Development Group Company, Pardis Petrochemical Company and Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company.
Mellat Bank gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index followed by Omid Investment Management Group Company, the MAPNA Group and Telecommunication Company of Iran.
IFX Climbs 0.36%
Iran Fara Bourse main index, IFX, gained 74.6 points or 0.36% to close Wednesday trade at 20,647.42. About 2.17 billion securities valued at 86.62 trillion rials ($322m) were traded at the junior exchange for the day.
Kerman Province Development Investment Company had the highest number of traded shares as 372.33 million of its shares worth 401.4 billion rials ($1.48m) were traded.
Arya Sasol Polymer Company, Iran Fara Bourse, Minoo Industrial Group Company and Ghaed Basir Petrochemical Company had the most negative impact on IFX.
Zagros Petrochemical Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Gohar Zamin Iron Ore Company, Saba Tamin Investment Company and Iran Cultural Heritage and Tourism Investment Group Company.
