Tehran Stocks Down 2%

Tehran stocks on Monday extended losses from the previous session as sell side pressure refused to ease on almost all stock categories. 

TEDPIX, the main index of Tehran Stock Exchange, shed 31,600 points to fall 2.08%. The benchmark retreated from 1.5 million points reached a week earlier and ended the session at 1,484, 158 points. 

The equal-weighted index was in upbeat mode during most of the trading session but later succumbed to sell pressure coming from large-caps to lose 1%. The index gives the same weight to all shares irrespective of their market capitalization. 

Net capital outflow reached 20 trillion rials ($80 million) on Monday, which, according to Persian-language economic news website eghtesadnews, was the fourth largest outflow in history of Iran’s bourse. 

Despite sell-off in majority of shares, bank stocks performed better as investor sentiment got a boost following reports that the Expediency Council, Iran’s top legislative body, will again discuss two pending bills demanded by the Financial Action Task Force, the global anti-money laundering watchdog. 

 

TSE Trade 

About 14.86 billion shares valued at 150.78 trillion rials ($579.94 million) changed hands at TSE for the day. Trading at TSE and over-the-counter Iran Fara Bourse starts on Saturday and ends Wednesday.

Behnoush Iran Company was the biggest winner as its shares went up 8.25% to 149,780 rials per share. Iran Darou Pharmaceutical Company incurred the biggest loss among all TSE-listed companies and went down 4.94% to 28,660 rials per share.

National Iranian Copper Industries Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by Mobarakeh Steel Company, Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company and Social Security Investment Company.

Mellat Bank gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index followed by National Investment Company of Iran, Parsian Bank and Tejarat Bank.

 

IFX Down 1.39%

Iran Fara Bourse main index IFX lost 274.22 points or 1.39% to close Monday trade at 19,493.96. About 3.41 billion securities valued at 64.62 trillion rials ($248.55m) were traded at the junior exchange for the day.

Taliseh Nemooneh Dairy Farm Company had the highest number of traded shares as 214.56 million of its shares worth 1.67 trillion rials ($6.44 million) were traded.

Arya Sasol Polymer Company, Zagros Petrochemical Company, Marun Petrochemical Company and Saba Tamin Investment Company had the most negative impact on IFX.

Gohar Zamin Iron Ore Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Iran Office Machines Industries Company, Kowsar Insurance Company and Tukarail Company.
