Tehran Stocks Inch Down

After a short-lived rally a session earlier, share prices dropped in Tehran amid sell-off pressure and uncertainty over future developments. 

The main index of Tehran Stock Exchange, TEDPIX, was down 2% on Sunday, shedding more than 26,000 points to close session at 1,279,862 points. 

About 60 ticker symbols on the TSE bulletin board were traded at the lowest daily prices and only 60 tickers experienced price growth for the day, according to Donyaye Bourse website.  

The value of retail trade recorded one of the lowest amounts in recent weeks in both the TSE and the junior equity market Iran Fara Bourse, reaching 54 trillion rials ($190 million) on Sunday. 

About 5.40 billion shares valued at 49.25 trillion rials ($181.06m) changed hands at TSE for the day.

Tuka Transportation Company was the biggest winner as its shares went up 10.22% to 19,310 rials per share.

Pars Khodro Company was the biggest loser among all TSE-listed companies and went down 11.22% to 6,250 rials per share.

Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by Mobarakeh Steel Company, National Iranian Copper Industries Company and Esfahan Oil Refining Company.

Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Company gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index followed by Behran Oil Company, Eghtesad Novin Bank and Sepahan Oil Company.

 

IFX Down 1.74%

Iran Fara Bourse main index, IFX, lost 282.78 points, or 1.74%, to close Sunday trade at 15,984.63. About 1.25 billion securities valued at 22.26 trillion rials ($81.86m) were traded at the junior exchange for the day.

Marun Petrochemical Company, Arya Sasol Polymer Company, Saba Tamin Investment Company and Day Bank had the most negative impact on IFX.

Iranol Oil Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Ghadir Petrochemical Company, Ghiam Isfahan Agricultural and Livestock Company and Binalood Agricultural Company.
