Tehran share market trading hours will change to help ease pressure on the trading platform, CEO of the Tehran Stock Exchange said on Friday.
The change will be commence in the current trading week that starts today (Sunday), Ali Sahraee said, adding that shares of listed companies will be traded in two separate sessions, the Securities and Exchange News Agency reported.
Remarkable growth in share trade in recent weeks has crammed the bourse trading platform as never before. This has drawn the ire of investors and again spurred criticism that the stock market authorities are doing little to improve the overcrowded platforms.
Splitting trading hours into two is one of measures officials have proposed to temporarily ease the overloaded platforms.
Regular trading hours start at 9:00 a.m. and close at 12:30 p.m. The new plan, however, says the shares of majority of listed companies, including all small-cap companies, will be traded at the first trading session from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
As per the plan, shares of larger companies that potentially account for the large part of deals will be traded in the second trading session that starts from 11:00 a.m. and ends at 13:00 p.m.
Tehran’s stock market trading platform has been overwhelmed by the systemic increase in the number of investors and unprecedented amounts of money flowing into the saturated market with more buyers than sellers.
