Tehran Stocks Close Slightly Weaker

The share market in Tehran closed trading week on Wednesday in negative territory as selloff pressure mounted on large-cap shares and investors rushed to the sell side. 

The benchmark of Tehran Stock Exchange lost 3,211 points dropping 0.17% to close the trading session at 1,841,696 points. 

Wednesday’s session featured a downturn in the fortunes of giant companies and renewed interest in smaller stocks as shown by a subtle but significant increase in the equal-weighted index. The index closed in green gaining 0.07%. 

About 13.912 billion shares valued at 232.875 trillion rials ($1 billion) changed hands at the TSE for the day.

Alumrad Company was the biggest winner as its shares went up 9.73% to 102,690 rials per share.

Kermanshah Petrochemical Industries Company along with Bama Company, Iran Zinc Mines Development Company, Parsian Oil and Gas Development Company and Kharg Petrochemical Company recorded the biggest losses among all TSE-listed companies, ending the day 5% lower. 

Parsian Oil and Gas Development Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by Isfahan Oil Refinery, Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Company and Golgohar Mining and Industrial Company 

Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index, followed by Tehran Oil Refining Company, Bandar Abbas Oil Refining Company and Jam Petrochemical Company.

 

IFX Drop 0.9% 

Iran Fara Bourse main index IFX lost 168.22 points, or 0.9%, to close Wednesday trade at 18,556.25.

About 2.35 billion securities valued at 50.794 trillion rials ($217 million) were traded at the over-the-counter exchange.

SabaTamin Investment Company, Esfahan Steel Company, Zagros Petrochemical Company and Hormozgan Steel Company had the most negative impact on IFX.

Shahid Tondgooyan Petrochemical Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Gohar Zamin Iron Ore Company, Middle East Mines Industries Development Holding Company and Melal Credit Institution.
