A rare rally of classic cars was held in Tehran from Wednesday to Friday.

It included 65 antique and vintage cars that sped on a defined path starting from central Tehran and arriving in Namak Abroud hamlet in Chalous County, Mazandaran Province and again back to Tehran through Chalus Road, Asb-e Bokhar news website reported.

The oldest cars were a 1958 Volkswagen Beetle, said Ramin Salehkhou, head of the Classic Cars Committee of Motorcycle and Automobile Federation of Iran (MAFI).

"A 1974 Maserati Khamsin, a grand tourer produced by Maserati, a Mercedes-Benz SL-class from the 1960s, a 1969 Dodge Charger, a 1976 Baldwin Motion Camaro and Pontiac Grand Prix from General Motors, were among the most valuable vehicles seen in the race," he added.

The event was co-organized by the MAFI, Touring and Automobile Club of Iran and the National Car Museum.
