Yazd Auto Expo Underway

The central desert city of Yazd is hosting its 14th round of Yazd Auto and Parts Exhibition.

Eleven local automakers, 70 suppliers and several car importers are attending the event that five-day expo that opened on Monday, ILNA reported.

Big names such as Iran Khodro and SAIPA along private business are showcasing their latest products.

SAIPA Group is participating with several vehicles including the locally designed Quick and Saina, and several other cars manufactured in collaboration with Chinese firms namely Ario, Changan CS35, Brilliance 330, 320 and 220.

Citroen C4 is on display by SAIPA and has attracted the attention of many  visitors. According to SAIPA officials, the C4 will be the first car to be offered in the local market through the SAIPA-Citroen joint venture.

The two companies forged a deal in July with the French automaker agreeing to invest $330 million in Iran over the next five years for the development and production of several Citroen models for the domestic market.

Negin Khodro, local importer of Renault vehicles is also present in Yazd with its popular sedan Talisman.

Automakers present at the expo are offering special discount packages.

Last year several models were unveiled for the first time in the historic city.  

Iran Khodro showcased many of its products, including the face-lifted Suzuki Grand Vitara, Dongfeng H30 Cross and S30, Runna, Peugeot 207i, Dena, Haima S7 and the Renault Captur.

The IKCO-Peugeot joint venture known as IKAP was also present at the event with two models, namely Peugeot 2008 and 508. The latter was delivered to buyers in May.
