It’s no surprise that the 2016 Toyota Hilux is on the way, with spy shots of a prototype running about and even a leaked brochure of the truck itself circulating cyberspace. Now, Hilux Revo Thailand reports that the eighth-generation pick-up truck will make its debut on May 21 with Thai sales slated to commence later this year, Paul Tan reported Tuesday. Aside from its new looks, the 2016 Hilux has been reported to arrive on the scene with two new engines – a 2.4 liter and 2.8 liter engine, both turbocharged diesel units. Power outputs for the 2.4 VNT (Variable Nozzle Turbo) mill are expected to hover about the 150 PS/343 Nm mark with a five-speed manual transmission and 167 PS/400 Nm with the six-speed automatic gearbox. Looks wise, expect quite the makeover with brochures indicating a revised front grille design. Elsewhere, the headlights, lower air intake and fog lamp assemblies receive a more contemporary touchup, as well.
