Details are emerging of a fourth new Range Rover model which will be allegedly released by late 2016, Autocar magazine reported on Friday.
Last week a rumor circulated amongst the British auto magazines of a new Range Rover model slotting above the Evoque small SUV and the Range Rover Sport. Autocar said it’s going to be based on the upcoming Jaguar F-Pace but with a longer wheelbase granting a more spacious cabin and the option for a seven-seat layout. The base model is believed to kick off at 58,630 and go up to $95,275 for the top of the range model.
The cheaper versions will be powered by “Ingenium” four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline and diesel engines whereas higher-spec models are getting larger V6 motor and an all-wheel drive layout. It is believed the model will also spawn a fully electric vehicle using the same setup as the Jaguar F-Pace EV providing a maximum range in “ideal conditions” of almost 482 km. This zero-emissions version will obviously be more expensive and could cost as much as $124,600 or even more.
This new Range Rover is expected to feature a lower roofline and will be optimized mostly for road use to broaden the car’s appeal and make it a viable alternative to high-performance wagons. Production will take place at Britain’s Solihull factory where it will share the assembly line with the aforementioned F-Pace.
