Pars Khodro to Manufacture Three New Cars This Year

Pars Khodro Automobile Company plans to produce three new car models in the current Iranian year (started March 21)

Pars Khodro Automobile Company, a SAIPA affiliate, is planning to produce new car models in the current fiscal year (started March 21), SAIPA’s CEO said during the unveiling ceremony of Pars Khodro’s new products.

“For the first time, Pars Khodro will produce three new products and sell them under the Pars Khodro brand in the fiscal 2023-24,” Mohammad Ali Teymouri was also quoted as saying by Khabar Khodro, a Persian website that covers automotive news.

“Sahand is one of the three products that has passed all the tests and awaits mass production. We hope to start the presale of this model in the sixth month of the current fiscal year [Aug. 23-Sept. 22],” he added.

Sahand will be produced on SAIPA's X200 platform. Belonging to the same family as SAIPA’s Tiba (the production of which has stopped) and SAINA, it is the sedan version of Atlas.

He stated that Kadila (P90), which is the Iranian version of Renault Sandero, is the second model in Pars Khodro’s lineup.

Teymouri said the product is currently in the trial phase and the company hopes to start the mass production of this model in the last quarter of the current Iranian year.

The P90 project is based on the Renault L90 car platform and its body is similar to the Renault Sandero. On the Logan platform, three cars, namely L90, Sandero and Sandro Stepway, were produced and the P90 project is a domestic version of these products.

According to Teymouri, Zotye 5DL (also known as SAIPA Ario) is the third car in Pars Khodro’s production program this year.

SAIPA plans to use new engines and Zotye 5DL will be offered with an electric hybrid engine, for which a contract has been signed with a Chinese company.

“Delta 5 model will be produced with a hybrid engine next year,” he said.

Announcing that the Aria model will be marketed with two different engines, Teymouri said, “We could have unveiled the Aria model this year, but we decided to supply this car with the N20 naturally aspirated engine that has low fuel consumption and emissions, and with an electric hybrid engine with low fuel consumption and five-year warranty.

SAIPA Aria is a crossover based on SAIPA’s SP100 platform. This version is to be produced with a 2.0L Mitsubishi engine.

“Currently, SAIPA's policy is to import completely built-up [CBU] cars in the first half of the current fiscal year [March 21-Sept. 22] and we will also import completely knocked-down [CKD] and semi-knocked down [SKD] cars in the second half of the current fiscal year [Sept. 23, 2023-March 19, 2024]. The latter will be equipped with domestic engines, 50% of which were manufactured with indigenous knowhow,” he said.

SAIPA Production Soars by 82.5%

SAIPA Automotive Group has published detailed statistics from March 21 to May 28 which indicate a substantial jump in output.

A total of 86,618 vehicles were produced by SAIPA during the period, registering an 82.5% increase compared with the corresponding period of last year, the company’s CEO said.

“Since good agreements have been made between the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade and the Central Bank of Iran regarding the supply of foreign currency to car manufacturers and parts producers, vehicle output has increased,” Mohammad Ali Teymouri was also quoted as saying by Khabar Khodro, a Persian website that covers automotive news.

“By increasing production, SAIPA aims to help regulate the car market, reduce the gap between factory and market prices, and fulfill the obligations assigned to it in the integrated car supply system. Production growth achieved since the beginning of this year [March 21] indicate that the component supply chain, currency supply process and production lines are being operated under suitable conditions.”

The CEO noted that the production of 9,233 Shahins registered the highest year-on-year growth of 128% during the period compared with 4,024 in the same period of last year.

“It was followed by SAINA, as its output increased by 127% to stand at 20,630 from 9,089 in the corresponding period of last year. A total of 38,704 QUIK models were produced, up 67% compared with 23,120 in the same period of the fiscal 2022-23,” he said.

“The output of SAIPA 151 increased by 46% from 6,117 in last year’s same period to 8,961 in the fiscal 2023-24.”

According to Teymouri, the production of SAIPA Diesel registered a 56% growth during the period, as the company produced 417 heavy vehicles from March 21 to May 28 while its output stood at 268 units in the corresponding period of last year.

“The rise in the quantity and quality of car production is in response to consumer demand, therefore, the process of optimizing production and eliminating any possible defect is followed seriously by the company. According to the new year’s slogan of ‘Inflation Control, Production Growth’, SAIPA is using its full potential to set records in production,” he said.
