Iran Khodro Industrial Group (IKCO) has managed to break its last year’s record by selling 458,459 passenger, semi-heavy and heavy vehicles from March 21 to Dec. 25.

IKCO also announced that this figure is 39% higher than that of last year’s 408,208 during the corresponding period, Donyaye Khodro reported.

On Dec. 21, IKCO had surpassed last year’s production record.

A total of 460,000 vehicles were produced by IKCO during the period, registering a 46% increase year-on-year.

The company mentioned that it is planning to supply at least 200,000 vehicles during the fourth quarter of the current fiscal year (Dec. 22-March 20, 2023). It intends to meet the needs of the market with the supply of these vehicles by the end of the year.

Vehicle invoice issuance is a key indicator of an automobile manufacturer’s performance regarding product sales.

IKCO has issued a total of 452,000 vehicle invoices for its products during the nine-month period (ending Dec. 21), which is 45% higher YOY.

According to the statistics released by the company, the highest growth belonged to the ninth month of the current fiscal year when a total of 67,056 invoices were issued, 69% higher than the corresponding month of the previous fiscal year.

Mehdi Khatibi, the CEO of this automotive group, noted that IKCO has become the 10th biggest auto manufacturer in the world in terms of production.

"Breaking last year's record on Dec. 25, boosting supply and increasing the numbering and delivery of vehicles are among the positive aspects of the domestic auto industry,” he said.

"In this difficult situation, we managed to become the 10th car manufacturer in terms of car production in the world by overtaking Italy and France."

Khatibi said despite all the problems and obstacles, Iran Khodro has succeeded in increasing its turnover as well as the quality of products at the same time.

"As an economic company, Iran Khodro has taken into consideration the interests of shareholders and this year we will see more profitability in the field of exports," he said.

IKCO, SAIPA Open 2nd Joint Agency for Sales, After-Sales

The second joint agency of Iran Khodro and SAIPA was inaugurated in the presence of the CEOs of the two automakers.

During the inauguration ceremony held on Dec. 8, Mehdi Khatibi, CEO of Iran Khodro Industrial Group, said, “Today we are witnessing the opening of the second joint sales and after-sales services agency of Iran Khodro Industrial Group and SAIPA in line with the strategic alliance of the two major automakers. In the future, we will have many such joint programs and collaborations,” Eghtesad Online reported.

“About a month and a half ago, the first joint agency of the two automobile groups was opened by SAIPA.”

Khatibi stressed that the alliance pertains to sales and after-sales services, logistics, research, driving forces and parts manufacture.

According to Mohammad Ali Teymouri, CEO of SAIPA, the strategic alliance between SAIPA and Iran Khodro has had many benefits for customers in the past few months.

Teymouri noted that the alliance in the production and supply chain has great benefits for the two car manufacturers.

“This alliance has been established with the cooperation of two automakers in a short period of time, but in the next few years, in addition to joint ventures in producing parts and operating agencies, the two automakers also plan to launch the joint production of vehicles,” he said.

“The biggest advantage of this strategic alliance is that it will help reduce car prices, increase quality and deliver the products on time.”

The SAIPA chief added that their strategic alliance has had a good impact on car production.

“Last year, there were more than 160,000 incomplete cars in the parking lots of the two car manufacturers. Currently, there aren’t any incomplete cars in their parking lots. With regard to car delivery, SAIPA has delivered 360,000 cars from the beginning of the year to Dec. 7 and 40,000 cars are in the process of delivery,” he said.

“Iran Khodro Industrial Group has also delivered 420,000 cars during the same period and 40,000 cars are in the process of delivery, which together broke the delivery record of last year.”
