Iran Khodro Company’s (IKCO) parking lots will be cleared of incomplete cars in the coming days, according to Iran Khodro’s vice president for development and production.
"Incomplete cars at the central site of Iran Khodro were completely cleared on Aug. 18 and the last incomplete cars at the Tabriz site are being completed,” Kianoush Pourmojib was quoted as saying by Donyaye Khodro.
The official said IKCO is set to end the production of incomplete cars.
Last year, the number of incomplete cars at the central Iran Khodro site in Tehran stood at 32,457.
"Currently, Soren is the only model with a deficit of parts and when these cars are completed at the Tabriz site, its parking lots will become devoid of incomplete cars," he said.
"In the 11th month of the previous fiscal year [Jan. 21-Feb. 19], the number of incomplete cars in IKCO’s parking lots stood at 82,500 that has currently decreased by 89%."
Pourmojib announced a 43% growth of complete car production since the beginning of the current fiscal (March 21) in IKCO and said:
"From March 21 to Aug. 18, 229,088 complete cars were produced, while total production stood at 160,206 in the same period of last year. During the same period, 219,713 car ownership deeds were issued, registering a 37% year-on-year growth,” he said.
The official noted that 225,832 vehicles were delivered to customers in the same period, registering a 27% YOY increase.
Keyvan Panahi, IKCO’s sales operations manager, announced a rise in sales plans for completely knocked-down vehicles in this industrial group, especially two Haima crossovers, following the rise in the production capacity of this vehicle at Iran Khodro's site in Khorasan Razavi Province.
Panahi noted that as per the plans, the production capacity of Haima vehicles will increase based on market demand.
"Accordingly, various sales programs will be devised for this vehicle," he added.
The official said high demand for this vehicle has led to plans to increase production capacity and the company will soon meet domestic demand completely.
"Currently, Haima S5 and S7 models are produced at the Iran Khodro site in Khorasan Razavi and soon the new Haima model called 8S will be added to the company's portfolio," he said.
According to the previous report published by Iran Khodro, parking lots of Iran Khodro in Binaloud, Khorasan Razavi Province, as well as in Kermanshah and Fars provinces, were cleared of incomplete cars on Aug. 5.
Shahram Salehi, IKCO’s deputy for comprehensive production system, said by implementing the new approach, incomplete cars will no longer be produced in this industrial group.
IKCO’s Car Manufacturing Waste Declines by 60% in Q1
Manufacturing waste generated by Iran Khodro Company’s (IKCO) car production lines, including body production, paint and assembly halls, has reduced by 60% in the first quarter of the current fiscal year (March 21-June 21), according to IKCO’s vice president for manufacturing.
Alireza Bakhtazma was also quoted as saying by Donyaye Khodro that by halting incomplete car production, anufacturing processes have improved, as any defect is identified during inspections and before the car is delivered to the sales representative.
According to the official, the elimination of incomplete car production has resulted in a 25% increase in the quality of IKCO’s products.
“Pre-delivery inspection has improved the quality of products and the results of customer surveys and evaluation of after-sales delivery confirm this issue,” he said.
“We are redesigning the production system and implementing more up-to-date standards in the manufacturing process, including 5S and a new logistics system.”
5S is a five-step methodology for creating a more organized and productive workspace: Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize and Sustain. In fact, 5S serves as a foundation for deploying more advanced production tools and processes.
Bakhtazma noted that the space around the production line will be freed, which will increase productivity by the end of the current fiscal year (March 20, 2023).
Referring to the summer break and production condition, the official said this season is the perfect time for renovating, upgrading and making changes in production lines, apart from undertaking the maintenance of equipment.
“As the maintenance and replacement of spare parts of equipment are very important, we prepare ourselves to achieve production goals in the second half of the current Iranian year,” he added.
Bakhtazma said Industrial Services Engineering Company of IKCO has also increased the security of transporting car parts to production sites by using an efficient transportation management software.
“This software will soon be used to increase the security of car transportation to dealerships as well,” he said.
