Vehicle production in the country has improved both qualitatively and quantitatively in the current Iranian year’s eighth month (Oct. 23-Nov. 21) compared with the corresponding period of last year.
According to the evaluation report of the Iran Standard and Quality Inspection, trucks and heavy vehicles had the highest standards with four to five stars, while some pickups had the lowest standards and received one star, Donyaye Khodro reported.
A total of 25 models of light to heavy commercial vehicles have been evaluated during the month under review, in which Bahman Diesel’s vehicles topped the list with five stars. This is while two products from Zamyad company were the only commercial vehicles that received one star.
According to ISQI, five-star cars and vehicles have a low probability of appearance flaws while single-star models observe the least standards with low quality and sometimes have fundamental defects that can be easily diagnosed.
Automakers With Three-Four Star Vans
Three models, namely the Hyundai H350 passenger van, Vana passenger van and Pegasus minibus, were evaluated in the semi-heavy passenger vehicle groups, including minibuses.
These three products, which are produced by Soroush-Mabna Diesel, Iran-Khodro Diesel and Bahman Diesel companies, respectively, were able to pass this round of quality evaluation with an acceptable level of quality.
Hyundai Van and Vana Van each garnered four stars and the Pegasus model received three stars.
In the heavy passenger vehicle group, however, only one product from Iran Khodro Diesel Company had been evaluated and it seems that other bus manufacturers were unable to participate due to lack of production.
The bus section is the only section that featured a single product. This time, Atros of Iran Khodro Diesel was awarded four quality stars that is acceptable, but due to the lack of competition, it was not a big deal.
Five-Star Trucks
In the semi-heavy freight sector, during the period under review, five-star quality products from private and public automakers had a strong presence.
Isuzu NPR75K truck and Isuzu NMR85 mini-truck were Bahman Diesel products that won five stars in this section, as they occupied the first and second position among the 25 vehicles under review.
Bahman Diesel’s Schiller mini-truck, Alvand truck from SAIPA Diesel and FAW TigerV6 truck from SIBA Motor Company with three stars were ranked third to fifth, respectively.
In recent years, the country's automaker and parts manufacturers have been able to develop the domestic truck sector, even in the face of sanctions, as evidenced by the presence of two five-star and four-star models in this segment.
High-Quality Vehicles in Heavy Vehicle Segment
In the eighth fiscal month, Isuzu NPR75M truck manufactured by Bahman Diesel, FAW TigerV8 truck produced by SIBA Motor and Benz WH truck made by Iran Khodro Diesel, received five to three stars, respectively.
Four Dima vehicle pullers produced by Dima Diesel, C&C made by Aria Diesel, Newman, A4 H4 and FAW J pullers by SIBA motor participated in the evaluation with the same level of quality and each were able to achieve the four quality standard stars.
These seven vehicles, along with all the heavy and semi-heavy vehicles in the country, showed quality improvement and received three stars.
However, it is expected that in the near future, with the rise in production, all domestic products will be produced with five-star quality standards.
Low Quality Pickup Trucks
Unlike other heavy and semi-heavy vehicles produced by domestic automakers, single-star models continue to be produced in the light cargo vehicle sector.
Zamyad's two regular and hybrid pickups achieved only one star in all evaluations. In this segment, the new Photon Diesel pickup van made by Iran Khodro and the KMC T8 pickup made by Kerman Motor were the only four-star products.
In addition, Soroush-Mabna Diesel’s UAZ pickup truck, SAIPA’s 151 Benro, single-cabin Kara 2000, type 3 pickup truck from Bahman Motor, Zamyad’s Padra Plus pickup and double-cabin Kara 2000 pickup produced by Bahman Motor managed to get three stars in this section.
