Maqom International Art Forum seeks to popularize maqom (maqam) music, as one of the famous genre of classical and musical art in the East.

According to Uzbekistan.travel.com, maqom emerged in the Middle Ages and is considered the pinnacle of eastern professional music of the oral tradition.

The term maqom originated from the Arabic language and means “place” and, in the music perspective, “melody”.

According to researchers, this kind of music was born from the ancient tradition of canonized chants.
