Acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi will be awarded the first International Lifetime Achievement Award of the 7th Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF).

According to JIFF film market director Nand Kishore Jalani, the first international lifetime achievement award of the festival will be given to the world’s renowned filmmaker Majid Majidi, MNA reported.

Majid Majidi gained tremendous popularity in the global film fraternity with his feature film ‘Children of Heaven’. His other well-known films include ‘Boycott’, ‘Baran’, ‘The Color of Paradise’, ‘The Willow Tree’, and ‘The Song of Sparrows’ among other titles. His last film ‘Muhammad’, made on the childhood of the Holy Prophet of Islam, will have its first screening at the 33rd Fajr Film Festival, to be held in Tehran, February 1-11.

Every year a great number of Iranian films are screened at the Jaipur film festival. Iran was the first guest of honor at JIFF 2011.

In this year’s edition, Iran is participating in the festival with 4 nominations: ‘Today’, ‘Iranian Ninja’, ‘Najes’ and ‘Bending the Rules’. ‘A Few Cubic Meters of Love’ a 2014 Iranian-Afghan romance film directed by Jamshid Mahmoudi will be the opening film of the festival.

JIFF 2015 will be held from February 1-5 in the Indian city of Jaipur.
