On the occasion of the International Day of Peace, the 6th Art for Peace Festival will be held at the Mellat Cineplex Gallery in Tehran, September 14-28, featuring works of artists from 32 countries.

More than 250 paintings, photographs, sculptures, installation arts and graphic designs will be displayed. It also includes film and animation screenings as well as theater performances, Honaronline reported.

Germany, France, Poland, the UK, Sweden, Turkey, Iraq and Afghanistan are among the participating nations. The theme of the festival is “Imagine Peace”.

According to the festival website, the event looks at the subject of peace beyond national, religious and personal boundaries. It will seek to help promote the concept and culture of peace, create a platform for Iranian artists to interact with their overseas peers and exhibit works by foreign artists in the country.

Established in 2013, the festival is organized by art galleries including Vista, Art Center, Shirin, Atbin, Farmanfarma along with Rahnama Art and Culture Institute and Iranian Graphic Design Society, House of Theater and Baran Theater.

Mellat Cineplex is located at Hashemi Rafsanjani Highway, Valiasr Street.

The International Day of Peace (Peace Day) is observed around the world each year on 21 September. Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to peace above all differences and to contribute to building a culture of peace.
