New Adaptation of Macbeth

New Adaptation of MacbethNew Adaptation of Macbeth

An adaptation of William Shakespeare’s tragedy “Macbeth” is currently on stage at Entezami Hall of Iranian Artists Forum and will run until September 14.

The adapted play, rewritten by Mehdi Maboudi and directed by Farzin Noubarani, is a new take on the story of greed and murder by the Scottish General Macbeth, Tiwall reported. In the new adaptation, Macbeth, who has killed King Duncan in a joint plot with his wife, dreams of committing murder every night. Tired of his dreams, Macbeth gets a new proposition from three witches so he can find peace.

The cast includes Saem Metani, Shabnam Eskandari, Reza Afshar, Amin Akbarinasab, Abbas Alireza and Amir Farahani. The production won the best sound design award at the sixth Shahr (City) Theater Festival.

British playwright and poet William Shakespeare (1564-1616), wrote the play in 1606 about a brave Scottish general named Macbeth who receives a prophecy from a trio of witches that one day he will become king of Scotland. Consumed by ambition and spurred to action by his wife, Macbeth murders King Duncan and occupies the throne. He is then enveloped with guilt and paranoia.

IAF is located at Artists Park, north Mousavi St., Taleqani St.
