Actor Shahab Hosseini has joined the cast of “The Night,” a thriller movie to be directed by Iranian-American film director and producer Kourosh Ahari.
Hosseini, who is remembered for his roles in Asghar Farhadi’s “The Salesman” and “A Separation,” will play the lead role. Shooting of the film will begin soon.
Ahari has written the script of The Night in collaboration with Iranian film director Milad Jarmooz. The film will be Ahari’s debut feature, according to the website of the movie Thenightfilm.com.
The Night is in pre-production phase now and the details of the story has been kept under wraps. But as the synopsis says, it is a mystery thriller about an Iranian couple living in the US that become trapped inside a hotel when insidious events force them to face secrets that have exposed in a night to which there seems to be no end.
It will be a product of motion picture company Mammoth Pictures in association with Indie Entertainment and 7 Skies Entertainment, all based in the US.
Alex Bretow is producing the film with Cheryl Staurulakis, executive producer of “The Night Watchmen” and Jeffrey Allard, executive producer of the famous horror movie “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.”
Academy Award winner Terry George, an Irish screenwriter, producer and film director, is consulting producer of the film. Mohammad Dormanesh is the Iranian producer of the film. The Night marks Hosseini’s first performance in the US.
Hosseini, 44, won the Palme d’Or for Best Actor at Cannes Film Festival 2016 for his role in the Academy Award Winner “The Salesman.”
