Adaptation of William Shakespeare’s comedy “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is to go on stage at Tehran City Theater on September 2.

The play, directed by Maryam Kazemi, is a musical production with 33 actors including Erfan Meydanlou, Houman Rahnemon, Hesam Kalantari, Rasoul Haqshenas and Arezoo Rostami, ILNA reported.

It is the tale of magical creatures jesting with some courtiers lost in the forest near the castle where the wedding celebration of Duke Theseus of Athens and the Amazon queen Hippolyta takes place. British playwright William Shakespeare (1564-1616) wrote the play in 1595. It is considered as one of his most popular comedies. In recent years various theater groups in Tehran have performed the play.

Kazemi, also an actor and translator, recently directed “The Miser”, a classical comedy by Moliere.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be staged for three weeks. The venue is located at Daneshjoo Park, Valiasr and Enqelab streets conjunction.
