A romantic comedy play by the late American playwright Neil Simon, “Barefoot in the Park”, will be read on stage at Baran Theater on Monday.

The text is translated by Shahram Zargar and Ramin Nasser-Nassir from English into Persian and the stage reading session is directed by Sogol Izadifard, Tiwall reported.

The play focuses on Corie and Paul Bratter, a newlywed couple as they begin their life in a tiny apartment. Barely within four days the couple learns to live in peace while facing the usual ups-and-downs of daily life. Corrie wants Paul to take things lightly and become more easy-going, for example, to run barefoot in the park.

Actors Maryam Abbasi, Pourya Aslan, Armin Hemati, Najmeh Safaei and Erfan Dadafarid will read the dialogues.

First published in 1963, the play is one of Simon’s longest-running hits in the history of Broadway. The play was nominated for three Tony Awards in 1964.

The prominent playwright, screen writer and author Neil Simon wrote more than 60 plays and movie scripts. He passed away at the age of 91 last week.
