Works of veteran sculptor and ceramic artist Mohammad Mehdi Anooshfar will be displayed at Iranian Artists Forum from September 2 to 12.
Organized by Cultural Heritage and Tourism Research Center, the exhibition will also review the works and career of the contemporary artist, ISNA reported.
Born in Tehran, Anooshfar, 72, is a graduate of sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Tehran, where he teaches ceramic and pottery. He wrote the first technical book on ceramics and tile manufacture in 1975.
According to the website of Tavoos art magazine, he is one of the three revivers of golden glaze in the world, a technique in which the artist applies bright gold glaze on ceramic or porcelain to give the works an exquisite appearance.
The respected artist has conducted research on Sassanid era (224-651 AD) glaze bricks along with Nishabur potteries in Khorasan Razavi Province and the Seljuq glazed tiles of the 10th century.
Anooshfar won the first prize at the National Sculpture Biennial in Tehran in 1995. His works have been shown in more than 50 solo and group exhibitions in Iran, Germany, the UK, Greece and Italy.
