Two Films Compete in Sakhalin Festival

Two Iranian feature films “Dressage” and “Pig” are attending “On the Edge” International Film Festival in Sakhalin, a Russian island in the Pacific Ocean, August 24-31. “Dressage” directed by Pooya Badkoobeh is the story of a 16-year-old girl, Golsa, and her upper-class friends, who rob a local store for fun. But things soon get messy when they realize that the shop had a security camera. Golsa goes back and takes the CCTV recording but instead of handing it to her friends, hides it at her favorite place, a horse stable. Negar Moghaddam, Ali Mosaffa, Shabnam Moghaddami and Yasna Mirtahmasb are in the cast, Mehr News Agency reported. The film received special mention in Berlinale Film Festival and best actress prize at Shanghai International Film Festival. “Pig” is a comedy written and director by Mani Haghighi. It is about a film director who is down on his luck in his film carrier. The bad conditions get worse when directors in the city are murdered by a serial killer. The cast includes Hassan Majooni, Ali Mosaffa, Leila Hatami, Parinaz Izadyar, Leili Rashidi and Mina Jafarzadeh. It was selected in the competition section of the 68th Berlin International Film Festival. Reputed filmmaker Tahmineh Milani is the head of the Russian festival jury which includes actress and TV presenter Maria Shukshina, filmmakers Alexei German Jr. and Alexei Popogrebsky, all from Russia along with South Korean writer Yeo Jung-mi.
