A fusion concert of tar and guitar will be staged by Koochi Band on August 29 at Niavaran Cultural Center in north Tehran.

Led by guitarist Houtan Vakili Moqaddam, the group will perform vocal and instrumental pieces in the style of flamenco. The band usually performs flamenco, gypsy and Latin American compositions. This time it will present a new experience: they have merged genres of flamenco and radifs, the traditional modal music in Iran, Honaronline reported.

Mohammad Ashrafi will play bass guitar, while Farhad Khazari and Mostafa Najafi sing. The band will be accompanied by tar and setar player Payam Javani.

“We will perform compositions with both tar and guitar. Compared to our previous performances, we will present more vocal pieces because we want to attract bigger audiences. The vocal pieces will be sung in Spanish,” Vakili Moqaddam said.

Tickets are available at Iranconcert.com. Niavaran Cultural Center is located at the northern tip of Pasdaran Street, across Niavaran Park.
