The 2nd Show of Hands Festival, an event for solo improvisations is to be held September 1-6 at Niavaran Cultural Center in north Tehran.

The festival is dedicated to string and plucked string solo improvisations. Guitarists Golfam Khayam from Iran and Zsofia Boros from Hungary will perform on the first night, Tiwall.com, where tickets are available, reported.

Soundboard Magazine, affiliated to the Guitar Foundation of America, has described Golfam Khayam as “doubtlessly one of the most exceptional phenomena of classical music in Iran.” She has an international career as a performer, composer and improviser, which reflects her unique musical language through the integration of her native musical elements within a contemporary experimental framework.

Zsofia Boros is a recipient of numerous awards, including top prizes at the North London Music Festival, the Paganini Competition in Parma, and the Premio Enrico Mercatali in Gorizia, Italy.

“Often I think I am holding the choice of music in my own hands, but later I wonder if the music has chosen me as a medium. My approach is always very intuitive; when a piece of music grips or touches me, I want to reflect it - to become a mirror and convey it,” ECM records quoted her as saying on its website (Ecmrecords.com).
