Calligraphy Museum of Iran is equipped with a new augmented reality application that guides its visitors and engages them in an interactive environment.
Designed for Android devices, the application is available at the website of Tehran Beautification Organization (Zibasazi.ir) affiliated to Tehran Municipality that owns the museum.
Augmented reality is a live direct view of a physical, real world environment whose elements are augmented by computer-generated sensory inputs such as sound, video, graphics, text or GPS data, according to the TBO website.
Tehran’s Calligraphy Museum displays masterpieces of calligraphy on paper, parchments, tiles, potteries, rings, seals and engravings among other forms and materials. With AR application (khoshnevisi.apk) installed on their cell phones, visitors can hold their devices against the works and read additional information , including about the artists.
