Iranian short animations and films are competing in the 14th Jecheon International Music and Film Festival in South Korea on August 9-14.

Short animation “Butterfly” directed by Maryam Khalilzadeh is participating in the world music section of the festival, IRNA reported on its Persian website.

The 13-minute animation is the story of a man who has transformed a thousand and one girls into butterflies by his enchanting music but has fallen in love with the last girl.

A production of the 39-year-old graphic designer and animator Khalilzadeh in 2017, it has so far attended the 21st Festival International du Film Pour Enfants de Montreal in Canada and The NEZ Int’l Film Festival in Kolkata, India.

Other participants include the two-minute animation “Instrument” by animator and director Abedin Mohammadi, about love of music among Iranians; the three-minute animation “The International” by Ali Zare-Ghanatnowi, about a terrorist attack at a singing choir; and 90-minute feature film “Life Without Life” by Kaveh Moeinfar, about a cancer patient who tries to create an opportunity for his son’s musical debut.

Launched in 2005, Jecheon International Music & Film Festival strives to be both a celebration of films and music shared and enjoyed by all generations with different musical tastes.
