Five subway stations in Tehran are offering passengers in near permanent hurry ethnic music by singers and bands from across the country for two hours each day, 4-6 p.m. The program is organized by Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization as part of the first National Tourism Festival of Chaharsuq underway at Tehran’s Milad Tower.
According to Khabarban.com, majority of the performances are accompanied by traditional dances and rituals.
Launched on July 25, the program is hosted by Imam Khomeini, Teatr-e-Shahr, Tajrish, Meydan-e-Azadi and Beheshti metro junctions and will continue through September 18.
Coinciding with the beginning of the mourning month of Muharram, September 11, which commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS), the last week of the program will be dedicated to religious traditions and rituals performed during the mourning period in different parts of the county.
