Woody Allen’s plays Death Knocks and Mr. Big will be read in English on stage of Maktab-e Tehran Cultural Institute on August 4.

The event is directed by actress and translator Shiva Ordooi. Actors Mohammad Saeedi, Manoush Majdzadeh, Shayan Dilamaqani will read the play in the original language, Honaronline reported on its Persian website.

Allen’s comedy Death Knocks is about Nat Ackermann who meets a mysterious figure climbing through his window and claiming to be Death. Nat suggests that they play a game and if Nat wins, he does not have to die.

Mr. Big tells the story of a detective, Kaiser Lupowitz, who represents a parody of all detective stories.

The well-known American filmmaker and author Woody Allen, 82, has been writing and directing a film almost every year since 1965. His films range from comedy to drama. He also has had a successful career in theater. He is best known for his romantic comedies and won three Oscars for Best Original Screenplay for Annie Hall (1977), Hannah and Her Sisters (1986), and Midnight in Paris (2011), and one for best director for Annie Hall. The venue is located at No. 8, Keyvan Alley, Aban St., Karimkhan St.
