CAMA Gallery (short for Contemporary and Modern Art) is hosting 38 paintings by artist Mehdi Kazemi.
The show includes 14 acrylic-on-canvas works and 24 ceramic paintings, all in the style of Herat School of Art, a 15th century style of miniature painting that flourished in Herat, western Afghanistan, under the patronage of the Timurids, Honaronline reported.
The literature popular at the time, largely governed the subject matter of Herat school paintings. Scenes from the Persian epic Shahnameh “Book of Kings” by celebrated Persian poet Ferdowsi (940-1020), as well as illustrations from the later works of Nezami, Sa’di, and Jami dominate artworks of Heart school.
Figures depicted in the earlier Herat school artworks are tall and thin with oblong heads and pointed beards.
CAMA Gallery situated at No. 44, 10th Golestan Street on Pasdaran Street will show the paintings until July 31.
