Chitgar Lake in west Tehran is going to host a Silk Road Festival, a multifunctional event planned to promote cultural and commercial exchange between nations along the legendary Silk Route. The event will be held as a series of exhibitions to be set up around Chitgar Lake for eight days starting on August 22, according to the public relations office of the festival. Handicraft, paintings, local costumes and foods from Iran and 20 other countries will be on show. Promotion of Iranian products is among the goals of the festival. Foreign participants will include Italy, France, India, Turkey, Russia, China, Poland, Romania, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan Republic, Afghanistan, Oman and some Mediterranean nations. Live music, theater performances and meetings are planned on the sidelines of the festival. Chitgar Lake is located between Kharrazi and Hamedani expressways, west of Azadegan Highway.
