Ten paintings by veteran artist Hossein Mahjoubi will be on sale at his personal gallery from July 16.

Located at No. 4, Gol-Mohammadi Dead-end, 18th Street, Bucharest Street, Argentina Square, the gallery will host the works through August 1, Mehr News Agency reported on its Persian website.

Mahjoubi, 88, is famous for his paintings of flowering trees and horses in nature. He is a modernist landscape painter whose works on western landscapes convey his signature style and evoke thoughts and memories of Gilan, his birth place.

Mahjoubi has often said that his objective of representing the beauty of lush green nature is to remind the masses how greedy mankind has been in destroying the planet Earth.

His works have been featured in many exhibits in and outside the country including in Sweden, Switzerland, Germany and France.

At the Ninth Tehran Auction of Classic and Modern Iranian Art, held last month, “Human Product”, an oil on canvas painting, created in 1976 by Mahjoubi was sold for 1.6 billion rials ($37,200).

Mahjoubi studied greenspace architecture at the faculty of Fine Arts, University of Tehran. Designing Saei Park in north Tehran is one of his notable works.
