The 31st International Film Festival for Children and Youth is slated for August 30-September 5 in Isfahan.

Jointly organized by Farabi Cinema Foundation, Isfahan Municipality and Iran Organization of Cinema and Audiovisual Affairs, the festival includes national and international competitions. Thematic priorities of the event are promotion of ethics, family values, humanitarianism, self confidence, social responsibility and environmental awareness.

The festival seeks to identify and appreciate the best films for children and youth and provide a platform for interaction of filmmakers, critics and audiences, particularly children, ILNA reported on its Persian website.

The awards in the international competition section will be presented to feature and short fiction films as well as feature and short fiction animations. An international jury prize coordinated with the International Center of Films for Children and Young People, based in Tehran, will be awarded in the section.

National competition of the festival will recognize the best works in four categories: feature films, long films, short fiction films, and animations (both features and shorts).

Only films produced after January 2016 are eligible for submission. They should not have been screened in the earlier editions of the International Film Festival for Children and Youth.

The selected films will be divided into two age groups of 5 to 12 and 12 to 16 for screening so that the audience (especially parents) can better choose the age-appropriate films.

The deadline for submissions is July 22. Once the films are selected, invitations will be sent to the filmmakers. Details and more info are available at the website of the festival, Icff.ir. Secretary and director of the festival is film producer Alireza Rezadad, 59.
