An adaptation of William Shakespeare’s tragedy of Richard III is to be staged at Vahdat Hall from July 10 for a month.
The play “Richard” directed and rewritten by Hamidreza Naeemi, depicts the power-hungry Duke of Gloucester who uses every manipulation, deceit and murder to become king of England, Honaronline reported on its Persian website.
Hamed Komeili as the tyrant king and Shaqayeq Farahani as Lady Anne perform in the play along with a large cast.
The second longest tragedy after Hamlet, the original Richard III was written in 1592-94 by the Bard, the title given to Shakespeare as he is considered to be the greatest poet ever.
