Life and works of Sadeq Chubak, author of short fiction, drama and novels is the subject of a recently book published by Morvarid publishing company.
Titled “A Sea That Was Always Stormy” after one of Chubak’s short stories “Why Did the Sea Become Stormy”, it is written by researcher and literary critic Mohammad Reza Aslani and contains three articles on Chubak’s life and works, Mehr News Agency reported on its Persian website.
Born in 1916 in Bushehr Province, Chubak is considered as a great naturalist writer in Persian literature. His short stories are characterized by their intricacy and concentration on a specific theme.
His works focus on the lives of the downtrodden victimized by inequality and discrimination. Always sympathetic towards the pain, agony and sorrow of the poor, he offers one solution: fighting corruption and injustice.
Among the well known of Chubak’s works are “The Monkey Whose Master Had Died,” “Tangsir,” and “The Patient Stone”.
Chubak died in California, in 1998 at the age of 81.
