Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan have started a joint cinematic production with filming locations in both countries.
Titled “High Voltage,” the film is directed by Azeri actor and director Ilham Qasimov, 40. The project is funded by Iranian filmmaker and producer Amir-Shahab Razavian, Young Journalists Club reported on its Persian website.
High Voltage is a romantic film. Now it is being shot in Baku and from there Azeri-Iranian cast and crew will arrive in the cities of Meshkinshahr and Ardebil in Iran’s Ardebil Province for the rest of the shooting.
Winner of the Silver Bear prize for best actor at the 58th Berlin Film Festival (2008), Reza Naji, 75, plays in High Voltage. He is from Tabriz, capital of Iran’s East Azarbaijan Province and like the rest of the cast speaks Azeri in the film.
The cast from the Azerbaijan Republic include Alamoddin Jafarov, Chenara Malekzadeh, Zia Agha and Kamale Piriyeva. Once completed, High Voltage is to go on public screens in Iran, Azerbaijan Republic and Turkey, according to the producer of the film, Razavian.
