Behrouz Shoeibi’s feature film “Axing” hit cinema screens nationwide on Wednesday.

Axing is the story of Mahsa, a drug addict, whose husband, Rouzbeh, leaves her six years ago and marries another woman. Mahsa finds out that her daughter, who she presumed was dead, is alive and lives with her father. In trying to get her daughter back, Mahsa becomes the nightmare of her husband’s new life, Filmovies.ir wrote.

The film touches on several social issues like addiction and class differences as Rouzbeh’s ex and new wife come from two totally different social classes.

It had 10 nominations in the 36th Fajr Film Festival in February, and won 2 Crystal Simorgh awards. Sara Bahrami received the award for best actress in a leading role for her amazing portrayal of an addict, while Jamshid Hashempour won the best actor award in a supporting role.

Hadi Hejazifar, Mahnaz Afshar, Negar Abedi and Amin Hayaee are also in the cast.

Koroush, Azadi, Mellat and Charsou cineplexes as well as Esteqlal Cinema are some of the venues hosting the film in the capital.
