An Iranian orchestra  will leave for Astana, Kazakhstan, as part of “Serper” Festival that celebrates the 20th anniversary of the city as the capital of the republic.

Slated for July 3-5, the festival is organized by Akimat (state administration department in Astana), Department of Culture and Sports of Astana, in collaboration with State Academic Philharmonic of Astana. The Iranian performance is organized by the Culture Ministry following an invitation from the State Academic Philharmonic of Astana, ISNA reported on its Persian website. The Iranian orchestra, along with folk and ethnic orchestras from other countries will perform in parks and public places.

Under the supervision of veteran composer and conductor Farhad Fakhreddini, the Iranian orchestra will be led by composer and conductor Ali Akbar Qorbani who is a member of the National Orchestra’s technical council. The singer is traditional vocalist and composer Vahid Taj.

Serper will feature folk, classical and modern performances from Russia, Azerbaijan Republic, Germany and Kyrgyzstan among others.

The main participant is the State Academic Philharmonic of Astana conducted by acclaimed Kazakh musicians Nurlan Bekenov and Professor Aitkali Zhayymov, chief conductor and artistic director of Kazakh Folk Instrument Orchestra.
