The 1977 drama “The Report,” first feature film by the late auteur Abbas Kiarostami is to have one screening at Raj Gallery on June 24, Tiwall reported.
Based on a screenplay by Kiarostami, the movie is about the life of a tax collector, Mohammad Firouzkouhi, who lives in a small Tehran apartment with his wife, Azam, and her toddler daughter.
Although Azam believes Mohammad spends too much time in his workplace, they never seem to have enough money for a decent livelihood. Things get worse when Mohammad is accused of taking bribes. He is suspended from work pending an investigation.
Tension grows at home and his wife threatens to leave him. When he beats her up and resorts to coercion and oppression, Azam tries to commit suicide by swallowing sleeping pills.
