On the northern flank of Tehran, where the city rises to meet mountains, there is a large complex of gardens and mansions built by monarchs of the Qajar (1786-1925) and Pahlavi (1925-1979) dynasties.
Sa’dabad Complex contains 18 palaces many of which are now museums. Among them are House of Ahmad Shah, Green Palace, Mellat Museum where Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and Queen Farah lived, Museum of Natural History, Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of Anthropology, Museum of Glassware and Handicrafts, House of Gholam-Reza Pahlavi, Military Museum and Museum of Treasure among others.
