Bill Clinton’s Book Lives Up to Blockbuster Status

Former US president Bill Clinton and bestselling novelist James Patterson have written a thriller novel named “The President Is Missing.”

Over 147,000 hardcover copies of the thriller were sold from June 4 to June 10. The website of the book, Presidentismissingbook.com, claims that the book is “the most gripping and surprising thriller in years” because it comes “with details only a president could know and the kind of suspense only James Patterson can deliver.”

Published on June 4, the 528-page novel describes a threat so huge that it jeopardizes not just Pennsylvania Avenue (a street in Washington DC connecting the White House and the Capitol) and Wall Street, but all of America. Uncertainty and fear grip the nation. There are whispers of cyber-terror, espionage and a traitor in the cabinet. Even the president himself becomes a suspect, and then he disappears from public view.

According to a June 13 tweet by Paul Bogaards, a spokesman for Penguin Random House (the merger was established in 2013), “The President is Missing” lives up to blockbuster status by selling more copies in its first week in stores than any other work of hardcover fiction published since 2016.”

Patterson is the world’s bestselling author, best known for his many enduring fictional characters and series, including Alex Cross, the Women’s Murder Club, Michael Bennett, Maximum Ride, Middle School, I Funny, and Jacky Ha-Ha.
