Two US-based Iranian musicians Armin Morshed and Mohammad Shabani have released their new album online.
“Back to Dreaming” includes nine tracks composed and arranged by Morshed who also plays guitar. Percussion is performed by Shabani, according to the Persian website of Nava.ir.
It took two years to produce the jazz fusion album. Released by Sheed Records, based in Los Angeles, the album is published on over 80 online platforms including itunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Shazam, iHeartRadio, SoundCloud, Deezer, Youtube, KKBox and Amazon.
The album is a combination of eastern and western music. Seven tracks of the album are instrumental. Two are vocal sung by young Iranian singer Barbad Bakaan, accompanied by bass guitar performance by Brazilian guest player Tiago Moraes. The lyrics of the vocal pieces are composed by Morshed in English.
Other guest artists are Aryan Qeytasi on oboe and saxophone, Sayori Shafiee on clarinet, and Arian Keshishi on bass. Back vocalist of the album is Amanj Azarmi.
Morshed has composed the pieces with a classical approach. In arrangement and structure, the work follows jazz style. Shabani uses bendir and cajon as percussion instruments. The artists have merged classical principles with jazz innovations, also including elements of Latin, Cuban and African music. Skylover, the last track of the album, however, is in the genre of synth-pop, also called electropop.
