Tehran Symphony Orchestra will perform musical pieces by the Russian pianist and composer Sergei Rachmaninoff and Czech composer Antonín Dvořák at Vahdat Hall, July 5-6.
Headed by the prominent Iranian-American conductor and composer Shahrdad Rohani, the orchestra will perform Symphony No. 9 in E minor by Dvořák alongside Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2; Vocalize, IRNA reported on its Persian website.
Czech Romantic era composer Antonin Dvořák (1841-1904) is famous for his Symphony No. 9 “From the New World”, and was passionate about his homeland traditional folk and Bohemia music.
Sergei Vasilyevich Rachmaninoff (1873-1943) was a Russian pianist, composer and conductor of the late Romantic period, some of whose works are among the most popular in the Romantic repertoire. His Piano Concerto No. 2 was well received in 1901.
The ensemble is slated to hold three concerts in Russia in honor of Iran’s national football team during the FIFA World Cup, Jun 14-Jul 15.
