The play “Summerless” by playwright and theater director Amir Reza Koohestani went on stage at Festival delle Colline Torinesi in Turin at the weekend.
Written and directed by Koohestani, the play tells the story of three people, a painter, a school supervisor and a young mother, sitting on a merry-go-round in a school yard exploring their relationships, Mehr News Agency reported on its Persian website.
Leyli Rashidi, Saeed Changizian and Mona Ahmadi perform the play on its world tour, which premiered in Brussels on May 22, as part of the Kunst en festival des arts. The play is slated for Avignon Theater Festival in France, July 8-15 and move on to Switzerland, Germany and Belgium.
The play will be staged in Tehran at Iranshahr Theater, July 30-August 14.
It is the third production by Mehr Theater Group. Koohestani’s previous works “Hearing” and “Timeloss” have been praised at international festivals and enjoyed successful performances.
Koohestani, 40, is representing an avant-garde approach in theater that involves characters inner conflict in intimate narrative.
His play “Dance on Glasses” (2001) was performed on a tour for four years, which gained him international fame and found the support of several European theatrical artistic directors and festivals.
