Located on the northern flank of Laleh Park on Kargar Street, the Carpet Museum of Iran exhibits a large variety of Persian rugs from different parts of the country.
Founded in 1976, the museum houses collections of contemporary and old rugs some of which date back to the 15th century.
Carpet Museum of Iran has two exhibition galleries on two floors covering an area of 3,400 square meters. The ground floor gallery is for a permanent exhibition while the one of the upper floor is for temporary exhibitions.
The museum library contains 3,500 books in Persian, Arabic, French, English and German. The building of the museum was designed by architect Abdol-Aziz Mirza Farmanfarmaian (1920-2013).
