Iranian film “Hattrick”, the third by Ramtin Lavafipour, is to compete at the Shanghai International Film Festival, June 16-25.
In the film two couples riding in a car run over something on the street. Though not sure if what they hit was a person, out of fear they hide in a friend’s house. Spending long hours together while overwhelmed with anger and fear, their angry dialogues reveal many secrets each had held from her/his partner.
The film was picked as the winner of Best Screenplay at the main competition section of the 36th Fajr Film Festival, in April, while Mahoor Alvand was recognized as the Best Actress for her performance.
Saber Abar, Parinaz Izadyar and Homayoun Ershadi are also among the cast.
Founded in 1993, the SIFF focuses on awards, markets, forums and film exhibitions to help build an international platform and promote the film industry.
