The comedy play “Lord of Carnage” written by celebrated French playwright Yasmina Reza is to be staged at Shahrzad Theater in Tehran on June 8.
Ali Sarabi will direct and act the award-winning play for the third time. Navid Mohammadzadeh, Maral Bani-Adam and Setareh Pesyani are also in the cast. It has been staged in Tehran with the same director and cast in 2016 and 2017. The show will run for two weeks, ISNA reported on its Persian website. Two couples meet for a discussion about a playground fight between their sons. As their argument continues, the parents transcend the boundaries of maturity creating anger, chaos and pathetic situation leaning on comedy.
The play premiered in 2006. Its performances at Broadway in New York and London’s West End received Tony and Laurence Olivier Award for best comedy.
