Parla Ensemble from Tabriz, capital of East Azarbaijan Province, will perform Azeri folk music at Vahdat Hall in Tehran.
The ensemble, led by singer Maria Yazdani, will present a concert on May 4, starting at 2:30 p.m., only for women.
“The Parla music band aims to promote traditional Azeri music and preserve the rich culture of this ethnicity’’, ILNA reported Yazdani as saying. The band will sing popular ballads and folk songs including ‘Sari Galin’, ‘Deer Hunt’ and ‘Janeh Maryam’, exclusively for female audience. The concert will also contain choreography, designed by Fatemeh Mohammadi.
For the upcoming concert, Parla features 17 artists, including the leader. Their pieces are arranged by Hassan Khojasteh. Piano is played by Negar Sadeq. Sara Naderi and Chichak Tabrizi are on kamancheh. Leyla Barzegar plays naqareh. Samira Morakab-Saz is on garmon. Sima Ganjei and Aylin Mirzazadeh are the percussionists and Ipak Tabrizi plays the tar.
Singers are Seuda Hariri, Fariba Tadayon, Chichak Omranifar, Linda Mahin, Ra’na Morshedi, Nayer Omidvar, Fatemeh Shali and Arezou Abdi-Golzar.
